Overview
Location
Situated on the A1M motorway halfway between York and Harrogate in the north of England, The Flaxby is an acclaimed 18-hole championship-standard layout just short of 7,000 yards in length.
Now into the third year of full operation, over 500,000 cubic metres of soil as been moved to shape the course, which features USGA-type greens, 5 tees per hole, 10 new ponds and lakes, over 25,000 new trees planted, and a state-of-the art driving range and golf academy.
Driving Range
The driving range has tees at both ends, over 300 yards apart, and is spacious enough not to require any ball-stop fencing, giving the impression that you are practising on the main course.
Academy
There is a hi-tech academy with turf putting green, chipping zone and a variety of bunker types and sand fill alongside.
During a very wet and testing 2008 summer, work was finally completed against the weather on the 9-hole 'Temple' course, a tough 6,000-yard equivalent length layout intended to complement the main course for golf society use and pay-and-play golfers.
